Services and Programs

The mission of Victor Valley Arts and Education Center (VVAEC); also (D/B/A Wordsmith Productions) is to enrich the lives of the communities we serve by advancing access to the performing arts, educational opportunities that advance artistic pursuits and literacy.

Our corporation aims to carry out its mission by presenting and producing a variety of cultural events that will include book festivals such as our successful 2016 High Desert Book Festival in Victorville, California, film series, and theatrical events.

ARTS ACCESS: We hope to be able to provide tickets to financially challenged students so they can attend professional plays and concerts.

Literacy Adult EducationEACH One / TEACH One: ADULT LITERACY PROGRAM

We started a free adult literacy program in 2015. Our first partnership was with the Victorville City Library in the Mojave High Desert, where we conducted our program assessing adult learners and tutoring them. We then moved to a low-income housing complex in a space provided to us by one of our board members. We use the same materials as the major nationwide library literacy programs, purchased with the help of donors: Laubach Way to Reading, Endeavor and Challenger student and teacher books.

We also have our volunteers supplement their curriculum with other literacy materials available online and in public use (like newspapers and magazines). We are currently meeting with various Foster Family Agencies, attempting to develop a program to tutor their foster parents. We know that this will, in turn, help those parents assist the school children in their care.

  1. EMERGING PLAYWRIGHTS PROGRAM: This new program will support emerging playwrights, starting at the High School level, with a first staging of their plays.
  2. THE WORDSMITHS CLUB: A writers’ group with several components described on a separate link located in the upper right hand corner of our homepage. This element of Wordsmith Productions is up and running! It includes the opportunity to join us in our booth at major book festivals around the country.

EMERGING PLAYWRIGHTS PROGRAM: Too many playwrights struggle with getting their plays critiqued and staged. It is a daunting task. Through the generous contributions of sponsors, we intend to help produce a weekend showcase for emerging playwrights. This will be both a competitive and a collaborative venture as we need our playwrights to be fully engaged in the marketing and staging of the production. But our nonprofit will underwrite the actual staging.

More information will be provided as we develop the program, so stay tuned! Or email us at
