board picture smallerEDWARD R. FRIEDMAN, ESQ. (Board Vice Chair) is the managing partner in the Beverly Hills law firm of Turner Aubert & Friedman, LLP. He received his B.A. degree from Pomona College in Claremont, California and his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University Law School in Los Angeles. Ed specializes in real estate law and has a very rich history as a patron of the arts. We are very happy to have him on our board.

DAVIDA S. JAMES (Board Chair and Executive Director) is a UCLA alumna, with a degree in English. She also attended the Penn State Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, PA. Davida has spent 20 years in arts management. She has been a public relations director and concert promoter and has managed theater budgets of up to $1.2 million.

Davida spent 12 years as the assistant director of the UCLA Central Ticket Office for the UCLA Center for the Performing Arts, primarily managing operations for the cultural performances. She was also the box office/marketing director for the Reichhold Center for the Arts, a 1200-seat amphitheater in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Davida is a professional writer of both her own work, and as a freelance writer and editor for private clients and several newspapers in the High Desert.

As the founder of VVAEC, Davida has high hopes that the community will embrace our goals and grow into the notion of bringing top notch artists to the High Desert.

JOSEPH MOON (Board Member, Treasurer) is a resident of Apple Valley and has lived in the Victor Valley for ten years. He has a B.A. in Environmental Studies and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, both from California State University, San Bernardino. Joseph works as Special Projects Manager for the Town of Apple Valley. He is an advocate of empowering, educating and motivating youth and a very enthusiastic supporter of the wonderment of the arts. As a songwriter and lyricist, he has a passion for creativity. We are very pleased to have him as a member of the board.

CHANDALE SUTTON is a Victorville resident, an entrepreneur, and a graduate of Fisk University, where he majored in Marketing/Business Administration. Chandale was the former General Manager for Barnes & Noble in Victorville, where he was able to be in a profession that allowed him to share his love of books. He has extensive retail management experience that involves event planning, business presentations, and sales analysis. Chandale spent months helping us plan Barnes & Noble’s participation in our first High Desert Book Festival in October, 2016. He shares our vision for what the arts and increased literacy rates could be in the High Desert, and we welcome him to the board.
